Idle hands are the devil’s playthings. I do believe that applies to every idle-handed minute in our house for a certain 3 year old.
So I’m constantly on the look-out for busy work to assign my little buddy. He likes to call it ‘danger work.’ For the most part, a very fitting description.
Insert heavy sigh here.
Often times, the victim of the danger work is this guy:
Which is why once in a while he deserves a special treat.
Hell, don’t we all?
So last week Picky Eater and I decided to bake our furry friend, Baxter, some doggy treats. Super easy and it took up a whole 2 hours of our morning.
Can’t beat that with a danger work stick. Unless your name is Picky Eater.
Cheesy Dog Biscuits
makes around 20 – 24 treats
1 cup unbleached white flour
1 cup whole wheat flour
1/4 cup cornmeal
1/2 cup shredded cheese
1 large egg
3/4 cup water
Combine all ingredients in a large mixing bowl and stir together with a large wooden spoon until well mixed.
Transfer to a floured surface and roll to around 1/4″ thickness.
Cut with cookie cutters.
Place on prepared sheet pan and sprinkle with a little extra cheese.
About this time, our furry little friend started perking up from the smell.
Yes, that was him ‘perked.’ Lazy turd dog.
But, he still deserves a treat every now and then. And I think his little doggy heart was happy enough to forgive a few danger work incidents when we handed him this…
ROH-MFG. ROH GOOD.
