These smoky, spicy roasted pecans are a winter month snack staple at our house.
Wait, let me rephrase that.
I roast a lot of these and Jonny sneaks them out to his studio to eat them by the fistful when no one else is paying attention.
It’s one of the things I love most about him. He’s a 6′ tall, 170 lb, remorseless eating machine.
We make a good team.
All jokes aside (for now), these truly are the perfect snack food to have on hand during the holidays. They have an amazingly warming effect and are a bit less guilt inducing than most other winter time treats. I highly recommend giving them a go.
Roasted Savory Spiced Pecans
(makes 2 cups)
2 cups pecan halves
2 tbsp butter (melted)
1 1/2 tbsp worcestershire sauce
2 tsp chili powder
1/4 tsp garlic powder
1/4 tsp finely ground sea salt
1/8 tsp cayenne pepper
Preheat the oven to 300 degrees. Line a sheet pan with parchment paper and set aside. In a medium sized mixing bowl, add the melted butter and all spices and mix to combine. Add the pecan halves and toss to evenly coat.
Pour the pecans on to the prepared sheet pan and arrange them in an even layer. Roast in the preheated oven for 10 – 12 minutes. Remove from oven, cool and store in an airtight container.
Sharing with friends is not required, but it’s a nice gesture. I mean, let’s face it… we all probably have at least one eating machine in our circle of friends. And who doesn’t love a good, spicy nut every now and then?
Bah-dum-dum.
OMFG. SO GOOD.
These look delicious… But I’m allergic to pecans… Have you ever done this with almonds?
I haven’t tried almonds, but I’m sure they would be delicious. Or even cashews… so buttery & decadent. ๐
I’ve seen candied pecans before, and cinnamon-sugar pecans too, but never spicy ones like these! They look so delicious. (And your gorgeous photos make my mouth water even more!)
They really are delicious, almost impossible to stop and just one handful. Just ask my husband. ๐
It’s great to have people around to help us from eating the entire batch ourselves! ;]
Just the recipe I was looking for. Many thanks, sheil
So so so SO good!! These are dangerous, especially since I am the remorseless eating machine in this household. Great recipe. Thank you!
So glad you tried (and liked) them, Judy! These are, hands down, our favorite snack for winter. There is something so warming about them!
OMFG! These are soooo good! Confession, I just asked my mom for her recipe but they sounded plain, so I googled up and found these! Sooo delicious and easy! Sorry mom ๐
