Holiday-Margaritas-2Cheers to the holiday season! The season of joy, giving, and imbibing in more cocktails than we probably should… under the guise of celebrating the season of joy and giving.

Yup, it’s a vicious circle. A delightfully wonderful, joyously giving, vicious circle.

And here I come, taunting you with one more reason to indulge. A festive holiday margarita, flavored with muddled fresh raspberries and rosemary, cranberry juice, orange liquor and tequila. And did you see the pretty sugar rim?

HO. HO. HO-ZIZZLE…. FO-SHIZZLE.

Holiday Margaritas
(makes 1 cocktail)
Sparkling sugar (for rimming the glass)
4 – 5 fresh raspberries
1 small sprig of fresh rosemary
1/2 oz fresh orange juice (reserve the orange slice for rimming the glass)
1 1/2 oz tequila
2 oz cranberry juice
1 oz Cointreau or triple sec

Pour a few tablespoons of sparkling sugar on a small plate and set aside. Slice a fresh orange and cut a slit in one side, then roll top of your glass inside the slit to squeeze a bit of juice along the rim. Turn the glass upside down and dip it into the sugar to coat the rim.

Drop the raspberries and rosemary in the bottom of the glass, then squeeze in the juice from the orange slice. Use a bar muddler to smash the juice into the raspberries and bruise the rosemary just a bit…

Add some ice to the glass on top of the muddled fruit, and set aside.

Combine the tequila, cranberry juice and Cointreau in a cocktail shaker over more ice, and shake until the outside of the shaker is good and frosty. Strain the margarita over the ice and muddled fruit, and garnish with another small sprig of rosemary…

Holiday-Margaritas-4Put your cozy sock covered feet up, munch on some reindeer food (whatever that stuff is), sip on this bad boy, and browse online for some last minute holiday gifts.

After all, ’tis the season for giving (and imbibing!)

Holiday-Margaritas-3OMFG. SO GOOD.
