These smoky, spicy roasted pecans are a winter month snack staple at our house.

Roasted Spiced Pecans

Wait, let me rephrase that.

I roast a lot of these and Jonny sneaks them out to his studio to eat them by the fistful when no one else is paying attention.

It’s one of the things I love most about him. He’s a 6′ tall, 170 lb, remorseless eating machine.

We make a good team.

All jokes aside (for now), these truly are the perfect snack food to have on hand during the holidays. They have an amazingly warming effect and are a bit less guilt inducing than most other winter time treats. I highly recommend giving them a go.

Roasted Savory Spiced Pecans
(makes 2 cups)
2 cups pecan halves
2 tbsp butter (melted)
1 1/2 tbsp worcestershire sauce
2 tsp chili powder
1/4 tsp garlic powder
1/4 tsp finely ground sea salt
1/8 tsp cayenne pepper

Preheat the oven to 300 degrees. Line a sheet pan with parchment paper and set aside. In a medium sized mixing bowl, add the melted butter and all spices and mix to combine. Add the pecan halves and toss to evenly coat.

Pour the pecans on to the prepared sheet pan and arrange them in an even layer. Roast in the preheated oven for 10 – 12 minutes. Remove from oven, cool and store in an airtight container.

Sharing with friends is not required, but it’s a nice gesture. I mean, let’s face it… we all probably have at least one eating machine in our circle of friends. And who doesn’t love a good, spicy nut every now and then?

Bah-dum-dum.
